The Chinese characters all display as rectangular boxes, how do I fix this?

This is a font issue. To fix this, go to the dictionary and click on "Fonts."

I signed up but didn't pay. I would like to pay now. How do I do this?

Payment is easy. Simply log into your account using your email and password (If you forget your password use the lost password tool). Once you have logged in, click on the "Purchase" Button. From there you can pay using Paypal or Credit Card. If you need help please contact support at support.

Reactivation is easy. Simply log into your account using your email and password (If you forget your password use the lost password tool). Once you have logged in, click on the "Purchase" Button. How do I change my personal information?

To change personal information such as email address and password, first log into the site. Then Click on the User Profile button at the top of the page. This takes you to a form where you can change the personal information associated with your account.

I lost my password, how do I get a new one?

To have your password emailed to the address specified in your profile, use the password recovery tool.

How do I join?

How can I store my password in Learn Chinese and Speak Mandarin software for Windows?

Run the software. Click on Tools ---> Store password. Enter your Username (your login email) and your Password. Click on Save. Close the software and run it again.


How can I store my password in Learn Chinese and Speak Mandarin software for MacOS X?

Run the software. Click on Tools ---> Store Login Information. Enter your log in email and your password. Click on Save. Close the software and run it again.


How can I get Internet Explorer to save my password so I don't have to type it in every time I log in?

The first time you log into your account, you should be asked if you would like your password to be remembered and auto filled out every time you come back. If you enter this information incorrectly or it is not presenting itself, here is what you need to do: Go to the Tools -> Internet options menu. Then click on the content tab. Click the button that says "Auto complete." Where it says "Use Auto Complete for" make sure that the "User names and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords" selections are checked. Then click "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords." Now go back to InstantSpeak Chinese and try to login. You will be presented with a dialog box asking you if you wish to save your password. Click "OK".


I am having trouble logging in to my account.

If you have paid, there are two reasons you might be having trouble logging in to your account.

1) You have disabled cookies
Our login system uses cookies to uniquely identify your web browser and login session after you enter your username and password on our site. To use our system you must have cookies enabled. As an example, to do this in Internet Explorer:

1. Choose the menu item 'Tools' from the top of the program.
2. Go to 'Internet Options'
3. Select the 'Privacy Tab'
4. Slide the bar to "Medium" (This will enable most reputable sites to place a cookie on your computer)
5. Click the "Sites" button, then type "instantspeakchinese.com" into the text box and click the "Allow" button. Then click "OK."
6. This brings you back to the "Privacy" tab, select "OK"

2) You mistyped our email address or password during the signup process. If you feel that this might have happened you can use the Lost Password Tool, or contact us.

What does MW mean?

In some of the literal translations we use the initials MW which denote a measure word. For more information on measure words please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_measure_word

Why are there numbers, such as 2 or 3, next to some words in the vocabulary section?

When a word has a number next to it, such as 2, that means that this is another way of saying the word.
